Job Description : JOB DESCRIPTIONTitle: Accountant with growth potentialProgram: FinanceDate Revised: January 2021JOB SUMMARYThe full-time accountant position is responsible to assist the Financial Controller with all accounting functions and hopefully work towards the position of Financial Controller within 2 years. This role requires working knowledge of Excel, QuickBooks desktop, Paylocity, Therap, Attendance on Demand and Microsoft office 365. All duties are performed with the knowledge that Breakthrough strives to be the model of excellence for adults with autism.PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTSGeneral ResponsibilitiesWeekly update and reconciliation of financial and medical billing spreadsheets needed for admin and other meetings.Balance Sheet Account and petty cash reconciliations in QuickBooks and related spreadsheets.Assist with payroll functions, necessary updates, benefits, related analysis, journal entries and spread sheets.General Ledger Account analysis monthly and for fiscal yearend audits.Learn and assist with all person supported billing, bookkeeping, money folders, receipts and documentation audits.Assist with other financial assignments as needed.Abide by all policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines for safety and quality assurance and general corporate oversight of Breakthrough and/or the State of Tennessee, Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Managed Care Organizations.Assist in the performance of other duties required by Breakthrough and/or the needs of the persons supported and as assigned by the Financial Controller and or Billing & Finance Coordinator.Physical DemandsMust have good physical and mental health and be able to work in a fast-paced work environment. Must be able to deal with stress.Special DemandsThe accountant must have understanding, patience and tact in dealing with the people Breakthrough supports, their families or advocates and other agencies involved in providing supports; the ability to maintain good working relationships with staff and with contacts from other agencies or entities; be able to prioritize work tasks and be able to work without close personal supervision.QualificationsBachelor’s degree with an accounting/business related major. Will accept an equivalent amount of education and work experience in lieu of a degree. Other requirements include at least twenty-one years of age and preferred experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities. Must have a good driving record and reliable transportation.Job KnowledgeThe accountant must possess logical thinking skills, a clear understanding of QuickBooks and analytical procedures. Follow administrative and programmatic guidelines, needs a working knowledge of Medicaid guidelines and State of Tennessee, Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Managed Care Organization policies and procedures.Training and ExperienceMust have excellent computer skills including proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, Paylocity, Scheduling software, Therap and word processing, with a working knowledge of database management and spreadsheets.
