Why You Should Join Our Team
Colorado Springs Utilities’ Planning and Finance Division is seeking an Accountant to join our General Accounting Team! In this position, you will be responsible for performing professional intermediate-level accounting duties that include preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial statements. We value providing our team members with opportunities for ongoing professional development through exposure to the many aspects of our financial reporting process.
Please note that a hybrid telework schedule will be considered for this position; hybrid is defined as a pre-determined blend of working from home and in the office and will become available following the completion of the probationary period.
How You Will Make an Impact
Compiling, preparing, and recording significant financial transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards

Analyzing, adjusting, and reconciling various ledger balances, system interfaces, and allocation calculations

Preparing bank reconciliations, billings for shared project costs, and monthly financial reports

Supporting annual external audits and participating in the preparation of published financial statements and accompanying notes

Participating in the development and implementation of accounting processes and controls

Providing project support for new and existing financial programs and systems

Addressing internal and external inquiries and data requests as assigned

Troubleshooting issues by gathering, researching, and analyzing data and recommending action asappropriate

Performing quality review of all work prepared to ensure accuracy and completeness of allassignments

Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field

Relevant and progressively responsible experience in a relevant accounting, auditing, or finance field

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Skill in Microsoft Excel
