Job Description : ACCOUNTANTConnecticut Community Care currently has an opening for an Accountant to join our growing organization. CCC offers excellent benefits in a dynamic, and mission driven organization.YOUR ROLEWorking as an integral part of the daily operations of the finance department, including general accounting, analysis and calculation of a multi-faceted revenue accrual, and month end closing responsibilities. Reconciles bank accounts, components of the receivables cycle, accounts payables and other assigned General Ledger accounts. Responsible for monthly cost allocation calculations and preparation of quarterly reporting for public contracts and grants. Prepares audit schedules and assists auditors with requests and inquiries during preliminary fieldwork and year-end audit fieldwork. Performs all duties in a manner that fosters the achievement of the organization’s mission to identify choices and provide services to help people of all ages, abilities and incomes to live at home.RESPONSIBILITIESCompiles and analyzes, on a monthly basis, all components of the state funded programs revenue. Reviews computer generated source documents for reasonableness. Calculates journal entry to appropriately accrue revenue.Analyzes and records monthly accrual activity for MFP and CFC programs, including accrual reversal and monitors aging.Performs monthly analysis and reconciliation of accounts receivable detail versus general ledger.Performs monthly analysis of allowance for doubtful accounts.Performs bank reconciliations and bank inquiries. Handles research for voids and stop payments. Summarizes interest income from all bank statements.Prepares and analyzes monthly cost report to allocate expenses for reporting purposes.Prepares and analyzes the monthly cost allocation for Central Office allocation and prepares journal entries.Reviews and approves monthly general ledger integration entries from billing system.Monitors grant reporting schedule for due dates and prepares periodic reporting using the designated grant templates. Maintains subsidiary schedules to support expenditures reported and grant filesPrepares monthly reconciliations for designated General Ledger accounts, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Grants Receivable, Deferred Revenue, and the Miscellaneous Funds Account.Prepares monthly entries for recording direct costs that can be identified, such as copy expense and postage.Assists Accounting Manager and Budget Analyst II in the monthly analysis of financial statements.Compiles data for and prepares Department of Social Services Quarterly Cost Report.Prepares required audit schedules related areas of responsibility. Responds to auditor inquiries as needed.Provides backup for Account Payable/Account Receivable Position, as well as cash management.Performs other related assignments and projects, as requested.REQUIREMENTSWillingness to learn new systems, broaden knowledge in the industryStrong organizational skills and detail-orientedAbility to multi-task and adhere to deadlinesAbility to take initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilitiesExperience with Dynamics Great Plains a plusExperience with non-profit or fund accounting a plusConsiderable knowledge of modern bookkeeping and accounting practices and procedures, including intermediate level experience with Microsoft Excel.Ability to prepare, process, and maintain complex records and reportsAbility to follow complex oral and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationship with supervisors, associates, and the public.EDUCATIONBachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.Connecticut Community Care is an equal opportunity employer.
