You will work closely with the Accounting Operations team members, especially team leads and Accounting Managers that will provide you with on the job training, mentorship and career navigation. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for certain consolidated balance sheet and income statement accounts (e.g. accounts receivable, reserve for bad debt, revenue, property taxes, etc.). Your role within a large publicly traded company will provide you exposure and the opportunity to gain experience in SEC-related functions and access to cross functional teams within the corporate function (i.e. marketing, sales, corporate development, IT, Legal, HR, etc…)
This role will be a critical valued member of the accounting and finance organization, with a broad set of responsibilities that will build both soft skills as well as a wide range of technical accounting skillsets. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation of general accounting concepts and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. A “roll-up-your sleeves” mentality, strong problem solver and collaborator skillset is key.
Responsibilities:
Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with US GAAP
Assist the Accounting team and Internal Audit with compliance related matters including year-end audit support and compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
Actively engage in the design and conduct trainings regarding day-to-day accounting related matters and other technical matters to the corporate accountants or to operations personnel
Propose and execute process improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency
Assist tax department on certain tax provision and compliance matters
Monthly Expectations
Responsible for the execution of various month-end close processes for their communities including analysis of financial results, as well as execution along with their Accounting Team of the consolidated SME area close processes
Prepare and/or review standard monthly journal entries
Prepare and/or review monthly reconciliations and related workpapers
Detailed review and analysis of community-level income statements prepared by the corporate accountants
Detailed review of community-level balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the corporate accountants, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets and accrued liabilities
Responsible for certain SME areas for the monthly close and reporting of consolidated balance sheet and income statement level accountants; and

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
Three to five (or more) years of relevant experience (accounting operations and/or audit)
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments and geographically distributed teams to ensure all tasks are completed
Extremely attentive to details and process with excellent follow-through to meet deadlines in a changing/fluid environment
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and applications
Superb communication, presentation, and excellent interpersonal skills required
Natural leadership, great sense of humor, collaborative nature and drive for excellence
Preferred skills:
Public accounting experience preferred but not required, and CPA or candidate a plus
Experience in mid-size to large SEC registrants and/or privately-held businesses preferred but not required
Prior experience supervising and/or developing staff preferred but not required
Experience with Workday a plus
