Small Business CFO is a team of people who work with small businesses and nonprofit organizations, providing management accounting and bookkeeping services including monthly reconciliations, closes, cleanups, financial reporting, and bookkeeping. We’re growing, and are looking for someone to join us.Our ideal colleague:Is an accountant or full charge bookkeeper,Has worked primarily in an accounting or bookkeeping firm that has small (15 FTEs or fewer staff / budgets $5mm and under) client,Has a diverse set of accounting skills and experiences,Works independently and can prepare books and financial reports accurately and efficiently on their own,Adheres to internal checklists and controls,Consistently beats deadlines,Is able to see both the big goal yet work on the details needed to achieve that goal,Adapts to new environments and changing priorities quickly,Loathes stress and will do whatever it takes to set up systems and processes to avoid problems and stressful situations in the future,Is able to quickly spot errors on financial reports, identify how those errors happen, and has the skills to fix the immediate error and revise procedures to mitigate such errors from happening in the future, andIs a pleasant professional to work with.This person filling this position will be responsible for:Clearing clients’ QBO / Xero bank feeds,Closing clients’ books, including reconciling bank and credit card accounts, reconciling other balance sheet accounts to internal schedules (prepaid expenses, fixed assets, deferred revenues, payroll / sales / income taxes, etc.), and reviewing the P&L to check for reasonableness of income and expense allocations,Working with internal team members and clients to get any missing information and clarity on unresolved issues,Troubleshooting problems in QuickBooks Online and Xero affecting clients’ balance sheets and P&Ls both to clean up and to modify the accounting workflow so that the errors aren’t repeated, and,Cleaning up data including comparing bank statements to the general ledger, adding missing names to the ledger, meeting with clients to understand what the income or expense accounts were, cleaning up the suspense account, etc.Additional work includes:Running clients’ payrolls,Working with clients’ staffs to get expense reports,Performing basic analysis of clients’ reports,Troubleshooting problems and errors in the accounting workflow that creates errors on financial reports,Developing, documenting, and communicating financial processes and procedures to the internal team and clients,Configuring accounting software systems, including QuickBooks desktop, QuickBooks Online, Xero, and integrations including point of sale, time sheet, and CRM systems,Onboarding new clients including cleaning up new clients’ books, andAssisting other team members with administrative and marketing tasks as needed.To qualify for this position, you need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, have at least three years’ hands-on work experience—preferably on staff in a multi-project accounting environment, and demonstrate a command of QuickBooks Online and Excel, QuickBooks desktop and Xero experience a plus.This is a full-time position. Compensation is $67,500 to $72,500, commensurate with experience. Work is split between client on-site and remote.Interested?
