The Division of Enterprise Operations (DEO) administers enterprise policies governing procurement, risk management, and continuity of operations planning; provides services to DOA and other agencies in the areas of financial management, procurement, risk management, continuity of operations planning, and the State Prosecutors Program; and facilitates opportunities for diverse businesses to sell goods and services to state agencies.

Position Summary

Under the close supervision of the General Accounting Unit Supervisor, this position is responsible for the financial accounting associated with ZBA accounts, Accounts Receivable; the accounting of all revenue and refund of expenditure transactions; coordinating billing and the collection of delinquent accounts receivable; the processing of customer refunds; preparing monthly sales tax reports, performing as a lead worker in Pre and Post audit of expenses.

Salary Information

This Accountant position is in schedule-range (07-04) with an hourly rate of $19.07 – $27.54 (depending upon qualifications), plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probation period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.
All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have:
A bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or auditing from an accredited institution or commensurate professional experience in accounting and/or auditing.
Qualified applicants will also have experience in:
General accounting (e.g., cost allocation, reconciliations, general ledger journal vouchers, auditing, or similarAccounts
Receivable (AR) Experience (e.g., Applying payments to open AR, AR aging, creating and processing bills, processing AR in an ERP or other accounting system, communicating with customers regarding open AR
Utilizing spreadsheets and databases (such as Microsoft Office Excel or similar)
