As an Accountant Sr, you will provide expertise and mentorship in compiling, analyzing and interpreting financial information for leadership decision-making. This role ensures compliance with requirements and regulations and is a resource for both internal and external customers. Accountant Sr. – Gas Accounting
A Day in the Life:
As an Accountant Sr. supporting gas accounting, you will navigate within pipeline electronic bulletin board websites to provide volume, imbalance/cash-out and storage activity support, and handle transportation invoices and pipeline tariffs. We provide robust learning and development opportunities, so if you are looking to build an exciting career, we want to work with you! Some of the projects and work you will be doing includes:
Using the Endur trading system to actualize and balance assigned pipelines/storage facilities and resolving volume and transport rate discrepancies with operations/front office scheduling teams
Completing month-end pipe tie-out reports, including buy/sell activity, interconnects, imbalances, pool, storage, and fuel volumes
Connecting and communicating with others to provide and clarify volume and tariff related information
Researching, processing and preparing pipeline transportation and storage invoices
Assisting with special projects as requested by leadership
Responsibilities/Expectations:
Analyzes business transactions of moderate complexity and identifies appropriate accounting treatment through research or collaboration with subject matter specialists
Arranges, maintains or develops schedules, reports and analyses for internal/external customers
Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements
Reconciles and/or analyzes ledger accounts and proposes adjusting entries, as the need arises
Provides information and explanation for audit requests from internal/external auditors
Serves as a resource to colleagues with less experience
Accounts for participation in various accounting related special projects
Prepares explanations to management regarding account reconciliations and operational results
Identifies and recommends resolutions to issues that impact the accuracy and completeness of accounting data and financial statements within a general area of responsibility
Communicates and coordinates with company partners
Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related major with a strong accounting focus and minimum four (4) years’ experience in related energy industry accounting
Preferred: CPA and minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in accounting in the oil and gas industry
Other Requirements:
Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply digital literacy and company software applications to job tasks
Ability to solve sophisticated problems
Demonstrates effective communication skills
