Job Description : ACCOUNTING MANAGER
A Los Angeles based healthcare management company is looking for an Accounting Manager to join their team.
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for both the direction and day to day management of the Accounting Department with 6 staff. In order to succeed, the ideal Accounting Manager should be:
detailed-oriented
highly analytical with extensive knowledge in all facets of accounting
solid expertise in financial statements preparation and review
strong organization, communication and leadership skills
ability to review the accounting work of other staff is of utmost importance
experience in dealing with multiple entities is strongly preferred
The position will need a visionary individual, one who is always looking for ways to streamline the Accounting Department processes and to be able to provide more meaningful financial information to key decision makers.
The Accounting Manager will primarily be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate preparation of the financial reports that conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Medicare and Medi-Cal cost report guidelines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, and a strong understanding of Medicare, Medi-Cal and AB1629 reimbursement principles is preferred.

Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Overseeing the preparation of and reviewing the monthly and annual financial statements.
Ensure the completeness and correctness of the reports. All monthly accruals, amortization, depreciations and recurring adjusting entries must be recorded.
Analyze financial transactions and bring to the attention of the Controller any material differences for proper handling.
Communicate issues to the facilities’ administrators and handles all processes that leads to resolution.
Review and analyze monthly Profit and Loss Statements (PNL) variances.
Review year-end financial package of 44 entities and ensure that all reconciling and supporting schedules are correct and complete.
Assist the Controller in budget preparation.
Ensure that all mandatory taxes and licenses such as use tax, city license, property tax are filed and paid timely.
Direct the external accounting, financial reporting and auditing including:
Ensure preparation of Medicare and Medi-Cal cost reports by outside consulting firm.
Manage the Medicare and Medi-Cal audits with the goal of minimizing adverse audit findings.
Working with outside CPA firm to prepare entity tax returns.
Manage the audits such as personal property tax returns (Form 571-L) and city business taxes.
Assist Controller and CFO in preparation of any internal management reports and other ad hoc reports.

Successful Candidates Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
At least 5 years’ experience in accounting with companies whose revenues exceeds $50 million.
Ability to supervise Accounting Staff including prior supervision of at least 2 direct reports.
The ability to research, understand and apply government accounting regulations.
Analytical thinker with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Strong time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Communicate effectively in writing, orally, and with others to assimilate, understand, and convey information, in a manner consistent with job functions.
Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
Strong research and problem-solving skills.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Enthusiastic attitude and team player.
Preferred experience in:
Skilled Nursing Facilities.
Property Management and related accounting.
Organizations with accounting operations for multiple entities.
