Are you looking for a meaningful role in which you can implement strategic initiatives and directly impact and drive business growth?The Assistant Controller coordinates the activities of the general accounting functions and provides a financial analysis in support of the business corporate leadership. This position is responsible for overseeing the recording of accounting information into the general and subsidiary ledgers in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in an accurately and timely manner. These include the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules, the analysis of financial data as well as preparing appropriate explanation for activities and variances. The selected candidate will provide right-hand support to the company’s leadership and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, growing environment with minimal supervisionDETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESLead the month-end and year-end closing and reconciliation; monthly journal entries, preparation of financials drafts under the controller supervision; following deadlines and procedures,Identify manufacturing variances against forecast, identify trends and anomaliesMaintain Depreciation/Amortization schedules and the corresponding monthly entriesMaintain a system of accounting records; responsible for maintaining A/P records and vendor’s relationshipsFacilitate accurate inventory through cycle counts, proper material movement practices, and well executed physical inventory countsEnsure accurate standard costing and clear understanding of product profitabilityMonthly bank accounts reconciliations for the Controller’s approvalEnsure that internal controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance that company assets are protectedDevelop accounting policies and procedures that improve efficiencyProvides technical accounting guidance and support as requiredAssist with special accounting projects and initiatives as assigned by leadershipSupervise Sales Tax reporting and filing, monthly and quarterlyExtract insights from data and effectively synthesize to support to decision making and develop actionable recommendationsCreate and deliver professional presentations to senior leadershipDrive continuous process improvement within FinanceSupport annual budget process, to include detailed evaluation of all budget plans, budget compilation, and final presentationWORK EXPERIENCES5+ years of overall relevant and progressive experience including Public Accounting and/or Private Industry accounting experienceStrong knowledge of debits and credits, internal controls, and financial reporting requiredStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP (preferred) or similar ERP systemStrong working knowledge of ExcelExcellent communication and leadership skills are mandatoryAbility to work independently and drive company resultsEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelors degree in Finance or Accounting related fieldMaster’s in Finance/Accounting-related field of study is a plusCPA/CMA requiredESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)Willing to learn about our business, leaving your desk and spending time in a manufacturing environmentDetail-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills andteam-oriented with a bias for actionIntellectually curious with a continuous improvement mindset to own and fix issues identifiedEffective listener and problem-solverComfortable in communicating with stakeholders at all levels of seniorityStrong knowledge of financial and accounting concepts is a mustKnowledge of manufacturing processes and cost accounting principles requiredPreference for experience utilizing advanced analytical tools (e.g. Power BI), ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics).
