Department Description
Financial Planning & Analysis, commonly known as FP&A, is responsible for providing financial support, analysis and management information to the Board, the Global Operating Committee (GOC) and other senior members of FIL management.
A large proportion of the team’s activity is focused on:
Continuously striving to make our regular reporting as informative as possible;
Supplying valuable analysis to support debate and decision-making at GOC and other senior management meetings;
Co-ordinating FIL’s quarterly forecast process;
Ownership of the management reporting hierarchy.
In addition to these group-wide responsibilities, we provide local business finance support to the Group Chief Financial Officer, UK Chief Financial Officer, CE Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Head of Shared Services as well as the Technology, Investment Management, Global Business Operations and Corporate Property Services functions. This support includes expense reporting, forecasting and recharging to internal customers together with a significant amount of ad hoc analysis.
Purpose of your role
The role is intended to provide an appropriate level of Business Finance support to the Operations and Chief Operating Officer (COO) department within Investment Solution Services including monthly reporting, quarterly reporting, forecasting and ad-hoc analysis support
Key Responsibilities
Monthly P&L analysis of ISS (including operations) business and explanation of variance to target and other regular ad-hoc reporting
Responsible for delivering and owning set of financial reports to support the ISS COO business.
Produce monthly accruals and management accounts adjustments.
Responsible for analysis of monthly service charges and allocations to businesses, providing explanations of variance to budget.
Responsible for annual plan/ quarterly rolling forecasts which are aligned with the business goals
Provide various ad hoc analyses to the business under challenging time frames.
Work closely with the global business finance team in the UK, Europe, Asia and India.
Relationship building and stakeholder management across geographies.
Responsible for ensuring all standard deliverables are turned out on time, to consistently high quality, and ensuring ad hoc deliverables are turned out to expectation.
Responsible for dealing with ad-hoc queries from the wider finance community and the business. This will include assisting with strategy-driven presentations for business heads, KPI reporting and other financial analysis.
Responsible for working in an extended (offshore-onshore) global team model and focusing on CFO goals with input from the functional manager and extended team where required.
Technical skills
A qualified accountant/MBA with minimum 6 years’ experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
Knowledge of Essbase, HFM, and CFP would be an advantage.
Good financial analysis skills including knowledge of accounting principles and industry-standard packages

Experience in managing the expectations of senior stakeholders
Ability to complete multiple tasks against tight deadlines, able to prioritise and organise effectively
Able to cope with sustained pressure
Ability to embrace change and adapt quickly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Shows attention to detail and an appetite to dive into issues in-depth as needed
Good at numbers and able to co-relate data/ information.
Keen to review processes and drive improvements.
