We are seeking for a dynamic, and self-motivated professional with excellent organizational and people skills for the position of Assistant Research Associate-Spatial Data Management and Analysis.
The position will be based in Delhi, India.
The main responsibilities of this position will be:
Undertake data cleaning and description of large (n=1000s of fields) surveys and crop production practice data from India.
Contribute towards production of data documentation files, data maps, and reproducible workflows for spatial models.
Undertake data analysis, using a range of quantitative methods including machine learning, of georeferenced primary survey/crop production practice data combined with other spatial databases.
Assist in collecting primary data from the field and support partners on the proper collection, storage and sharing of data.
Participate in the publication of research results through annual reports, presentations and publications.
Undertaking other related tasks as needed from supervisor.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes:
M.Sc in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Statistics or Data Science.
At least 2 years of experience with data analysis and managing large data sets.
Knowledge of agricultural production and food systems issues in the region.
Demonstrated skills in R, STATA and/or other languages such as Python.
Skills in spatial data management, analysis, and visualization.
Ability to manage and analyze complex data, carry out and explain computations or to resolve complex problems.
Demonstrated ability to guide field technical staff and provide backstopping and mentoring.
Ability to communicate and write reports in English.
The candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Strategic Thinking, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Communication and Team-Work.
The position is for an initial fixed-term contract of 12 months, after which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds. CIMMYT offers an attractive remuneration package, with a range of benefits including health insurance.
