Job Description : Cooperates with: WNESU staff and administration, school administrators, Town treasurers and school bookkeepers.Minimum Qualifications: 1.Degree in accounting or equivalent experience required. CPA or CPA eligible candidate with school district finance auditing experience preferred.2.Computer literate with competency in Microsoft Office Suite (spreadsheets & databases).3.Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.4.Ability to communicate effectively with staff, administration and community-at-large.Position Goal: Provides oversight of all financial records for WNESU and its member School Districts. Provide accounting guidance for employees in the WNESU Business Office. Duties & Responsibilities: 1.Ensures that an adequate system of controls exist for payroll and accounts payable functions performed at WNESU.2.Provides deposits and reports necessary for each payroll/accounts payable cycle.3.Maintains records of cash needs and informs Director of Business.4.Maintains record of all revenue received for WNESU and member districts.5.Supervises bank reconciliations.6.Prepares material for annual audits scheduled for WNESU and participating school districts.7.Provides accounting support for WNESU and its member districts, in accounts payable and payroll, in all fund areas, i.e.General Fund, Restricted Funds, Student Accounts, etc.8.Assists with budget development and checks all districts budgets for balance, reconciliation and compliance with local, state and federal requirements.9.Supplies the Director of Business with information for Stat reports, SEER reports, budget creation and budget status for WNESU and participating districts.10.Oversees the generation and reviews revenue and expense reports to the Boards and Principals on a monthly basis.11.Reconciles Trial Balances on a monthly basis.12.Creates and maintains accounting processes and procedures according to GAAP/GASB with all balance sheet, revenue and expenditure accounts supported by detailed records.13.Maintains the WNESU Chart of Accounts and ensures consistency in accounting practices and posting of transactions.14.Assists Director of Business with investment of funds.15.Attends board meetings as needed.16.Other duties as assigned by the Director of Business.*Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level ofwork being performed by people assigned to this classification. Benefits per contract.FLSA status is exempt. Evaluated By: Director of Business Performance Measurements: 1.Fiscal services staff are supported properly.2.Accounting records are in order, timely and incompliance with local, state and federal policies and regulations throughout the year.3.The year-end closing process is being done accurately and on time for SEER and Stat book reporting requirements.4.Records are ready for audit in August and audit recommendations are limited to suggested improvements in processes.
