Job Description : Our client, a construction company based in the greater Akron area, is seeking a self-motivated and disciplined Controller to manage all accounting and financial management aspects of the Company and take an active leadership role in the Company. The Company has been in business for over 50 years and specializes in the installation of natural gas infrastructure. The Company uses Sage accounting and business management software.
.Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Advisor to the Board of Directors, Officers, and other management on all questions related to financial operations;
Supervising and managing all accounting and financial management functions;
Supervising and managing employee personnel who assist with accounting and financial management;
Maintaining general ledger accounts and ensuring accounting policies and procedures are followed and that the balance sheet and other financial statements are accurate and complete;
Making sure effective internal controls are in place to ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable laws/regulations for financial and tax reporting;
Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing of books;
Responsible for preparing Company budgets;
Maintaining cash management and preparing monthly bank reconciliations;
Maintaining banking and accounting relationships, reviewing banking/accounting documentation, and monitoring bank account activity;
Responsible for Company retirement plan; and
Other accounting, finance, and administrative duties and projects as required.
.Qualifications:
BS/BA in Accounting or Finance;
7+ years overall accounting experience with increasing supervision responsibilities;
Construction Industry experience preferred but not required;
Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines;
Strong overall computer skills and proficiency in Excel and Word;
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Strong analytical and decision-making skills; and
Results oriented, high level of personal integrity and dependability, and a strong sense of urgency.
