PURPOSE STATEMENT
Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the accounting and control functions of the division, reporting operational results, as well as providing chronological systems. Provides Plant Manager with operating results, short- and long-range planning, and administers the Division Accounting Systems and Controls. Also, responsible for various legal and tax requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
Provide integration support for Christie’s Cookies as well as future new business integration activities (25%)
o Identify differences in financial statement classification of revenue and expenses compared to Rich’s standard financial reporting policies and quantify the impact of corresponding accounting changes.
o Review current Associate classifications between direct labor, indirect labor, and administrative labor and propose revised classifications as necessary.
o Adopt Rich Products Costing and Pricing Methodologies and develop overhead budgets, ABC costing models, standard direct labor rates, and corresponding master data files for SAP data loads.
Compares performance with operating plans and standards. Provides reports and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management. (15%)
o Identifies labor, yield and inventory variances and seeks the reasons for such through contact with applicable department heads.
o Compiles concise monthly report detailing all meaningful variances and know explanations for such. Required records are adequate, accurate and timely.
Gathering and compiling plant’s production information and accurately reporting and distributing it (15%)
o Assembles annual operating budget with information compiled by the department heads and the Plant Manager. Researches and identifies budget variances.
o Develops meaningful production and financial reporting systems to be utilized by applicable personnel to measure performance. Provides departments with related information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities.
o Monitors inventory levels and advises Plant General Manager regarding variances to budget. Verifies raw material and finished good inventories.
o Preparation of financial statements and operating dataAssures protection for the assets of the business through internal control and internal auditing. (15%)Recommends and implements techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices. (10%)Monitors general ledger accounts and department numbers, verifies variances, audits interface transfers, and oversees finished goods inventory account. (10%)Performs other duties and handles special projects from time to time as assigned by Director Finance and Plant Manager. (5%)Ensures all internal controls are current and implements RPC Internal Audit recommendations in a timely fashion (5%)Provide remote accounting support to other facilities as needed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCEBachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance8 to 10 years or relevant experienceMinimum 2 years as a controller with responsibility for accounts, budgeting, cost accounting, credit, collections, and financeWorking knowledge of manual and automated accounting systemsPrior experience with transitioning ERP systems preferredWell-developed financial analysis capabilitiesDirect experience in supervising clerical associates is necessaryStrong PC skills, proficiency with Windows, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
