Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
FLSA: Exempt
Supervisor responsibilities: Yes
Starting Rate: $91,176 – $94,975 annually

General Description:
Reporting to the chief financial officer (CFO), the Controller will lead the technical day-to-day finance operations of a budget in excess of $20 million and supervise a team of 3 staff members including functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. The Controller will ensure that The Resource Exchange has the financial systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct clean audits. The Controller will work closely with program leaders and their staff, to assist and educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
Assist CFO with audit activity including preparation of audit schedules.
Prepare financial statements in an accurate and timely manner, clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial results to CFO.
Assist CFO and leadership in the annual budgeting and financial planning process.
Support the CFO in engaging the boards finance and investment committee around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and regulatory agencies in a courteous and professional manner.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws to include:
Interviewing and hiring

Planning, assisting and directing work
Appraising performance
Rewarding and disciplining employees
Addressing complaints and resolving problems
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Participate in All-Staff and other TRE facilitated meetings and activities.
Participate and engage in trainings and development opportunities.
Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
Critical thinking utilizing logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Sound judgement and decision making taking into consideration the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Competencies to include financial management, expansive technical capacity, performance management, ethical conduct, effective communication skills, and personal effectiveness and credibility.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum: Bachelors degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university. Five (5) years of hands-on accounting with managerial and supervisory experience.
Preferred: Masters of Business Administration. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant.
Material and Equipment Directly Used: Computers/tablets, Printers, Copy Machines, Personal Vehicle, Cell phones/telephone, Cloud based systems and software, electronic data bases, spreadsheet software, etc.
Working Environment/Physical Activities: Office, community, and virtual environment settings. Moderate physical activity required, such as walking, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 20 pounds. (ADA accommodations at the request of the employee.) A working vehicle, valid CO drivers license (unless active Military family), and minimum insurance levels ($100,000/$300,000/$100,000 liability coverage) are required.
