Job Description : Under the direction of the Project Manager of Support Services, oversees the payment of regular accrued time and overtime hours to employees in the Department of Facilities Management. Responds to inquiries for information regarding Human Resource issues, regular accrual time and overtime issues. Oversees the payment of overtime and accrual time hours to departmental employees. Performs bookkeeping functions in connection with projects and assignments under the direction of the Project Manager. Provides information and assistance to staff on all matters related to regular accrued time and overtime accrual. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) test certification is required.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business;
OR
(4) four years full-time professional work experience as an Accountant or Bookkeeper is required.

Previous experience as a payroll timekeeper is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Ability to learn and understand Cook County payroll policies as they pertain to payroll procedures. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and other financial software programs. Skill and accuracy in the control, organization and maintenance of files and records. Ability to calculate, verify and edit complex payroll data. Ability to follow-up in a timely manner relative to unresolved business such as pending payroll requests and other employee benefit inquires as assigned. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of basic mathematical skills utilized to calculate overtime issues.
