Job Description : Director, AccountingJOB DESCRIPTIONAs a Director of Accounting, you will lead and coordinate strategic developmental/functional services to support department objectives and organizational goals. To help achieve our mission, you will direct the operation of corporate Financial Risk Management. Your ability to maintain effective and responsive relationships with patients, attending medical staff and other departments is of vital importance. Managing department finances such as budgeting, control of salary, non-salary and capital investment expenses is required. Managing professional and clerical staff, including day to day supervision, team member relations and staff development is expected.Job ResponsibilitiesOversees the day to day operation of all Accounting related activities primarily financial reporting and.Ensures that department operations are in full compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards.Oversee monthly financial close including consolidation and preparation of monthly internal financial statements.Assists in preparation of quarterly financials for submission to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, the public database for tax-exempt securities issuers.Support with any ad-hoc internal reporting requirements within system office and from other departments including preparation of power point presentations etc.Participate in month-end close meetings providing budget vs. actual variance analysis on expenses each month.Oversee investment allocations, policy compliance and accounting for investment portfolio.Oversee Debt portfolio including compliance and accounting of transactions for accurate financial reporting.Responsible for keeping up-to-date with any recent accounting pronouncements and ensure financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements.Assist in drafting footnote disclosures for annual year-end financials for the purposes of audit.Responds promptly to requests from other departments within the operating unit and maintains cooperative relationships.Ensures adherence to service excellence standards and the provision of outstanding service to internal and external customers.Oversees service agreements/fees and develops/reviews work plans and products from service providers related to Treasury and Risk Management functions such as investment bankers, bond counsel/other legal counsel, actuaries, brokers, consultants, banks, investment advisors, auditors, rating agencies, trustees and third party administrators of benefits programs.Supports the overall audit process working with different departments to gather information to be provided to auditors.Additional RequirementsEducation: Bachelors Degree in accountingExperience: 10 years relevant experienceCertification:Certified Public Accountant upon startSkills: Leadership skills ABOUT USInova is Northern Virginia’s leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
