Job Description : Marine Spill Response Corporation is a not-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard Classified Oil Spill Removal Organization. MSRC was formed in 1990 to offer oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment. MSRC offers a full range of oil spill response capabilities intended to help meet the planning criteria of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.
MSRC is offering an excellent opportunity for a Division Accountant to support and assist the Marine Division Controller in our Herndon, VA location. The Accountant will formulate and administer work in accordance with company policies and accounting practices, will track and monitor projects, and ensure that financial and operating reports accurately support business operation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and attention to detail accompanied by relevant experience in the Accounting industry. The incumbent must have experience preparing and analyzing financial reports and be adept at extracting and manipulating data.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or an equivalent.
Minimum of two years of accounting experience.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in accounting systems; Great Plains, Quickbooks and Ariett preferred.
Advance Excel skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with external and internal customers.
Employment is contingent upon:

Maintaining a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:
Monitor against project budgets and expenditures and provide timely feedback to the respective project or cost center owners
Review and process vendor invoices and expense travel reimbursement requests submitted in the payable system
Access accounting and procurement information (Great Plains experience a plus).
Provide back up and assistance to the Marine Operations Division Controller
Use Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel and its advanced functions
Participate in Division management meetings and train Managers and Vessel Captains on budget concepts and financial policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to wear the personal protective equipment prescribed by posted signs and written instructions.
