Job Description : Experienced Accountant – Family OfficeMajor ResponsibilitiesSupervise accounting staff. Identify, communicate. and assign accounting matters to staff. 1) Motivate and be respected by subordinates; 2) Demonstrate positive contributions to recruitment, education, development, and retention efforts. 3) Provide training and act as a mentor and coach. 4) Provide assigned staff with timely and candid feedback. Support the family office performance management process.Assist and work in a team environment so family members and managements of business entities are effectively served.Drive scheduling of assigned accounting staff and engaged accounting firms.Ensure the issuance in a timely manner of the financial statements of trusts and business entities including all related tasks including: 1) Invoice processing. 2) Reconciliation of accounts. 3) Ensure trial balances correctly reflect accounting information. 4) Coordinate partial and full physical inventory counts.Facilitate the engagement and completion of income tax returns by external accounting firms. 1) Organize and understand source documents for delivery to external accounting firms. 2) Maintain required documentation relating to tax credits provided for development of real estate.Prepare tax projections and estimates for family members and business entities.Facilitate the engagement and completion of financial audits of business entities. 1) Organize and understand source documents for delivery to external accounting firms.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Preferred Experience/Background/SkillsMaster’s degree in accounting.Superior knowledge of general accounting, auditing, and taxes. A minimum of five years of recent auditing and tax experience.Experience with risk assessment and control/audit procedures.CPA preferred.Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable interacting with family members and managers of business entities.Excellent supervisory, analytical and leadership ability.Ability to effectively utilize technology and the commitment to learning in the technology environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.Strict adherence to professional ethics.Ability to successfully contribute to the success of the values and business plans of the family office and its business entities.Working ConditionsThe typical office hours are 8 am to 5 pm.Ability to travel to client locations throughout the United States.Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines as determined by the workload, family member expectations and requirements of business entities.Travel for this position will be 10% to 20%.Ability to sit for long periods of time.Ability to move throughout the office.Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 20 pounds.Ability to speak English to communicate with family members and staff.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k)Paid time offSchedule:Monday to FridayWork Location: One location
