As such, it is our policy that all employees are fully vaccinated.POSITION DESCRIPTIONWe are seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager. The Finance and Accounting Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial activities with the assistance of the organizations’ contractors. The accounting and financial activities include accounts payable, payroll, federal and state Political Action Committee (PAC) accounting/reporting (in coordination with organization’s PAC consulting firm), and other general accounting and finance duties.The Finance & Accounting Manager will contribute to the management of accounting policies and procedures, finance, payroll, helps to ensure financial accuracy in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and adherence to tax regulations.This is an exciting opportunity to work with a mission-driven, rapidly growing, high-impact organization. You will play a critical role in actualizing new processes and systems that will enable the organization to continue to grow its financial infrastructure, and by extension, our organizational impact.Finance:Develop monthly financial reports to track actual vs budget for projects and grant budgets, and then partner with department leads to review these and other monthly financial reports.Conduct overhead allocation analyses to inform development of grant proposals. * Capture and monitor grant spending, prepares financial grant reports, and partners with Finance Director on grant tracking.Accounting/Payroll:Enter payroll on bi-weekly basis, maintaining payroll compliance.Review and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all payroll transactions including wages, timesheets, taxes, deductions, and garnishments.Manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly close of accounting records, and all other bookkeeping activities through oversight of the organizations’ contract accountants and bookkeeper.Ensures compliance with GAAP, organizational policies, collection of and federal/state tax requirements.Work closely with department managers and bookkeepers to maintain accurate transaction records. * Ensuring invoices are submitted and paid on time.Assists bookkeeper with preparing year-end 1099 filings.Assists the preparation/compilation of the annual budget and the monthly forecasting process. * Cultivates strong lines of communication with other departments, facilitating compliance around all electoral activity and PAC activities in partnership with the organizations outside counsel and reporting consultants.Performs special finance and accounting projects and other duties and tasks as assigned by the Finance Director or the Managing Director.Assist in annual audit as necessary.Maintain and update accounting policies and procedure memos.Implementing payroll/timesheet and billing systems.Other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent experienceStrong MS Excel skills required.6+ years of Accounting and Finance experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting * Knowledge of GAAP5+ years of payroll administration experienceStrong knowledge of QuickBooks Online, other accounting equivalentHighly organized with exceptional attention to detailCommitted to the values and mission of EnviroVoters and EnviroVoters Ed Partners * Teamwork orientedAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentSelf-starterFlexibility and the ability to manage multiple projectsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to follow through on projectsMust be able to interact effectively with people on all levels of the organizationDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience with nonprofit accounting (501(c)4 and/or 501(c)3)Experience using Paylocity or an equivalent payroll processing databaseExperience with PAC accounting and reportingExperience with managing grant spendingCommitment to the mission of California Environmental Voters and the California Environmental Voters Education Fund.WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOWWe offer competitive salaries and a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage; a 401(k)-retirement program with employer match; pre-tax Commuter benefits for public transit; flexible spending account (FSA) for health care expenses; paid vacation, sick leave, and floating holiday; optional life insurance; employee assistance and travel assistance programs.
