Job Description : Job Descripton Summary
Summary: This role is responsible for taking an intensely proactive posture in all financial management duties, including, but not limited to: 1) Budgeting, reporting and other financial analysis, 2) Maintaining accurate financial and billing records through various administrative, accounting, and bookkeeping duties, and 3) Supervising other accounting staff and liaising with Clients CPA firm as needed. This role will maintain confidentiality of company matters and will exercise discretion and judgment while working under minimal general supervision. This role will occasionally require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties associated with this role. This role reports directly to Owner. Key Results Area #1 – Budgeting, Reporting and Other Financial Analysis – Oversee and direct all general accounting functions, including but not limited to chart of accounts, general ledger, billing process, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations. – Develop, update and maintain internal controls to: a) safeguard assets, b) ensure proper accounting of transactions, c) promote operational efficiency throughout the company as a whole. – Preparation and analysis of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. – Assist in financial management analysis as required. – Monitor cash flow and enforce cashflow management to maintain adequate balances. – Participate in an annual benefit and compensation review process. Key Results Area #2 – Maintaining Accurate Financial and Billing Records – Ensure the maintenance and retention of all accounting records as required. – Coordinate with CPA and QBO Payroll to ensure all local, state, and federal tax reports are filed accurately and in a timely manner. Key Results Area #3 – Supervise Other Accounting Staff and Liaise with CPA Firm – Be the key / primary contact for periodic reviews with the CPA firm. – Facilitate certain Human Resources functions. – Serve as a backup for other accounting staff.
Financial Controller Requirements:
In depth knowledge of accounting principles in order to assume responsibility for the accounting department at a level normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent.
– Approximately five to eight years of progressively responsible related work experience. – Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary matters. – Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of co-workers and provide information with courtesy and tact. – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Requires the ability to work independently towards general results.Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.Proven track record as a strong team leader.Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of customers and co-workers.
Experience in a service organization desired, construction experience a plus.
CPA is a plus but not required.
Minimum 3 years’ experience with QuickBooks Online and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
