PacWest is an equipment distributor that provides a full line-up of heavy machinery covering general production, road construction, utility and specialty lines from companies including Volvo Construction Equipment, Metso Minerals, GOMACO, Yanmar, Takeuchi, Atlas Copco and others.The Company currently operates six full-service branches and delivers comprehensive sales, rental, parts and service support in Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho. More can be found at www.PacWestMachinery.com.ABOUT THE POSITION:The successful applicant will provide leadership and coordination of the Company’s accounting activities, financial planning, reporting and budget management functions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credit and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, and general & entity accounting.· Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.Prepare and issue timely monthly financial reportsMonitor and analyze monthly operating results against budgetSafeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departmentsDirect and coordinate company financial planning and budgeting activitiesDirect and coordinate debt financing and debt service paymentsEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirementsInterface with outside audit firms, banks, casualty/liability insurance company, credit card companies and collection agenciesProvide accounting policy documentation and orientation for new staffWorking knowledge and administration of healthcare and other benefits programs.Other duties as necessarySUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting Department.Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Financial and operational knowledge of dealerships (equipment, vehicles, etc.)Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.Knowledge of credit application review and credit limit settingExpert us of Excel and working knowledge of SQL database architecture and ability to write queries to extract information from ERP / accounting systemWorking knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.Knowledge of federal, state and local financial regulations and reporting requirementsWork requires professional written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to work cooperatively within the larger management group.Ability to motivate financial team to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.In addition to financial skills, the Controller must maintain a positive and professional approach to serving information and support needs of Company employees.Extensive qualifications in certain categories may help offset a lack of experience in other areas.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:· Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) required.· CPA license is preferred but not required.· Five or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.WORKING CONDITIONS:Position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule (occasional weekend and/or evening work).Position is based in Kent, WA, with periodic travel to company locations in the Pacific Northwest.While hybrid work arrangements are being used during the coronavirus pandemic, this position is an in-person job.Working conditions are normal for an office environment.PacWest Machinery is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin/ancestry, age, disability, marital and veteran status.To ensure the safety and security of all employees, the successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment testing for alcohol, drug and/or controlled substances.Please note – subject to response levels, the company may not be able to respond to every applicant.Job Type: Full-timeBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceDisability insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insurancePhysical Setting:OfficeSchedule:Day shiftMonday to FridaySupplemental Pay:Bonus payWork Location: One location
