Job Description : PURPOSE:Financial Cost Analysts will partner with the Value Stream to conduct analyses and make recommendations to optimize product and overall profitability. In addition, they must construct and monitor financial/cost metrics and ensure business data and reporting needs are met.DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Responsible for Cost Accounting functions, updating labor rates and working with operations and engineering to ensure integrity of product standard cost – detailed variance analysisAnalyze Value Stream financial results: Revenue, Cost of Sales and Gross Margin as well as department spendingCompare actual product costs with budget, estimates or standards and analyze resultsUpdate Value Stream financial reporting requirements and partner with the Value stream on all financial analysisMonth End close process including necessary journal entries, reconciling inventory and other necessary activities to ensure financial integrityResponsible for annual site year-end Physical InventoryBid and Proposal efforts for Production efforts including Compliance with RFP (Request for Proposal), Product Costing, Rates and Factors, develop summaries for review/submittalAid in the annual budget including but not limited to, cost of sales, expense planning and capital plans and location ratesProvide support for external/government auditsSupport ad hoc projects and assignments as neededRequirementsEDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):B.S. Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.EXPERIENCE:Preferred five years of accounting / finance experience, with roles of increased responsibility in a manufacturing environment. Proven track record providing manufacturing and business data analytics in a fast pace environment. Cost accounting and government accounting experience a plus.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Self-starter ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and growMust be able to prioritize, multitask as well as work independently.Must be able to maintain quality of work and at the same time meet multiple deadlines as required.A team player, must be able to work with people within and outside of the finance departmentWorks independently, with minimal supervision requiredStrong interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication and presentation skills; be comfortable interacting with Value Stream management and all levels within the organizationReport on financial performance and prepare for regular leadership reviewsAnalyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvementsStrong analytical and data gathering skillsProficient with advanced knowledge of Excel formulas and functionsGuide the cost accounting process by establishing and enforcing policies and proceduresIncrease productivity by developing automated reporting/analysis toolsCONTACT WITH OTHERS:Position requires contact with all levels of the organization. Specific interactions will be with the Value Stream leadership, Operations, Engineers and Program Management as well as enterprise level Business Controllers, General/Staff Accountants, Contracts and other value stream financial business analyst or Operations Controller. Position also requires contact with outside government and CPA auditors.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Works majority of the day in a climate-controlled environment, with the exception of or otherwise specified, performing work in the warehouse or manufacturing areas which are subject to changes in temperature and/or noiseTravel:Generally, travel is not requiredLOCATION:Gentex’s Carbondale facility is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania in Lackawanna County. Carbondale, PA is about twenty miles north of Scranton, PA, 50 miles south of Binghamton, NY, and about 125 miles from New York City and Philadelphia.
