Job Description : System Six, a unique, fast growing cloud finance and accounting services firm is actively seeking our next Team Lead. We’re looking for someone with a love of leading and teaching, obsession with process, excellent communication skills, mastery of the accounting craft, and who is an energetic, gritty team player who exhibits integrity, humility, and a true desire to grow with System Six.

The Role Summarized:
As Team Lead, you will eventually be managing a team of 4-6 Client Leads (Accountants) and Bookkeepers
Your primary responsibility is to two fold:
To joyfully manage your staff – to get to know them as individuals, to build team cohesion and trust, to help team members advance towards their career goals, to oversee quarterly performance reviews, etc. You will relish holding weekly team meetings and individual 1-1s every week with your team
To oversee your team’s delivery of client accounting services – this includes bookkeeping, payroll processing, bill pay etc. (we do not file Federal taxes). This means monitoring our to-do lists (Karbon) to ensure tasks are done on time, monthly and quarterly audits of work to ensure quality control, answering difficult accounting questions for the team, guiding the team in difficult conversations with clients, managing hours and driving efficiency to make sure time budgets are met etc.

The Ideal Candidate Brings:
An instinctive ability to recognize, retain, and respect their team members
A love for training, supporting and mentoring their team members to reach their full capabilities by sharing accounting knowledge, and technology and efficiency best practices
Obsession with documentation and adherence to process. You love creating and following checklists, and get excited by helping others adhere to consistent processes
Humility, patience, and a deeply rooted servant leadership mentality. You love to “get in the weeds” to help your team out in a bind, but avoid regular micromanagement
A strong intuition for understanding clients and knowing how to solve relationship challenges
Mastery in accounting – with considerable experience managing a team that oversaw multiple sets of books from end to end. Public accounting experience is a plus
Excellent communication skills – with both clients and team members across multiple communication channels (email, MS Teams, Zoom, etc.)
Fluency with cloud accounting technologies (QBO, Bill.com, Gusto, Divvy/Ramp, Expensify/Tallie, Google Drive, etc.)
Resourcefulness – a prodigy problem solver who is not afraid to to ask for help when needed
A keen attention to detail – with a sense of integrity, dependability, and joyfulness
