Job Description : An up-and-coming firm has teamed up with Robert Half to find an efficient Staff Accountant to join their growing team. The responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it’s time for the monthly close, you’ll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will look over schedules for the reporting processes, participate in compliance, and keep in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Normal, Alabama area, the company offering this challenging contract to full-time opportunity provides a thriving environment and rewards effort.
What you get to do every single day
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Partake in annual closing processes
Strong familiarity with incoming payments
Account reconciliation experience preferred
Solid understanding of general ledger
GAAP Accounting experience required
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
