Our team is venture-backed, natively remote, and growing fast.About the Accounting Manager roleThe Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Accounting. This person will lead strategy around our accounting policy and reporting, including the development of ICFR practices, GAAP and Statutory Filings, and various reporting processes. They’ll oversee a growing team of accountants dedicated to telling the Branch story.We’re building a technology-first and data-driven digital finance organization while eliminating traditional structural inefficiencies. We need an experienced accounting professional to optimize reporting process flow and serve as a subject matter expert on Branch’s policy, function, and results. The ideal candidate should not be afraid to roll their sleeves up to ensure we’re achieving industry-best outcomes all while making sure we’re delivering on our promise to our members.Branch is native-remote, meaning that we attempt to hire employees in “hubs” so that employees can have the benefit of community and the flexibility of a remote-first work environment. Columbus, OH, and Chicago, IL are the hubs for the Finance, Accounting, and Reporting teams.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee accounting processes and automation for key cycles within the environment.Support the development of key accounting policyDevelop a strategy for anticipated reporting requirements and execute on their fulfillment in a Branch-Like (automated, Seamless, accurate, and innovative) format.Design and implement new processes supporting various organizations as they continue to iterate into new forms.Lead and develop research and thought leadership on future reporting developments.Take leadership of research within any new accounting pronouncements and develop solutions in anticipation of their impacts on Branch financials.Manage relationships with third-party consultants over various processes including taxes, audit, and system implementations.Establish and execute playbooks for complex, significant, and unusual business transactions.Skills, Knowledge, and ExpertiseStrong knowledge of corporate finance and capital markets.At least 5 years of relevant work experience.One (1) or more years of coaching, people management and/or development experience.In touch with current market conditions that may impact cash position outcomes.Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.Creative, out-of-the-box thinker who refuses to accept the status quo.Ability to “Call the Play” with imperfect information.Excellent analytical skills.Proven track record of prioritizing work and managing multiple projects, in addition to the daily workload.Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity.Strong oral and written communication skills.Instinctually identify opportunities and create data-supported solution.Excellent understanding of technology and its relation to the accounting process.Familiarity with protocols to securely transmit data, building no-code workflows, and data creation and reporting.BenefitsHealth insurance for you and your family.A $150/month contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA), administered by Branch.Unlimited vacation days.Prime Real Estate benefits with the opportunity to choose between natively remote work (remote, but in a Branch office’s metro area) or in-person work in either the Columbus, OH or Chicago, IL metro regions.Immediate participation in Branch’s 401K with profit sharing potential.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $124,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceFlexible scheduleHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayWork Location: Multiple Locations
