Job Description : Description of Job Responsibilities:
We are actively looking for an Inventory Accountant who will manage inventory costing, financial controls and perform analytical activities. In addition they will be creating and maintaining reporting schedules for inventory and products. This position will partner with the production area, operations and others involved with the supply chain to ensure inventory is properly accounted for and safeguarded. The inventory accountant will work closely with the finance and supply chain team members.
Qualifications and Experience:Ensure appropriate inventory valuation and costing of all products in accordance with GAAP and company policies.Assist in Month-end closing, prepares journal entries, inventory & BS account reconciliationsAnalyze inventory valuation and cost variancesAct as liaison with internal operating department such as Production, Purchasing, AP, AR, and WarehouseMaintain and update standard material, labor, and overhead costsReview bill of material structure for quantity and unit of measure accuracyWork with operations and fulfillment to plan and conduct physical inventoriesPrepare journal entries and reconcile inventories to balance sheetReconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger and operationsPrepare, analyze and report monthly, quarterly gross margin, other cost of sales, inventory trends and turnover ratiosSpecial projects related to inventory as required
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required3+ years’ experience in Inventory & Cost Accounting experienceAbility to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in relation to Inventory & Cost Accounting StandardsStrong ability to assess problems, identify causes, generate possible solutions, make recommendations and/or resolve the problemAbility to analyze transactional level detail in an ERP system and articulate the key findings to managementStrong interpersonal, communication and interpersonal skillsIntermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel/MS OfficeDetail oriented and comfortable working with large data setsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCollaborative, team-oriented mindsetAbility to work independently under minimal supervisionExperience with Sage 100
