Job Description : RobertHalf Direct is looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant who can improve overall payroll operations in our company.Primary responsibility will be to issue employee payments, considering deductions and withholdings. You’ll prepare journal entries, payroll schedules and records and contribute to various accounting tasks. To succeed in this role, you must have strong mathematical skills and knowledge of national and regional laws for payroll and payroll taxes.ResponsibilitiesCalculate and issue employee paychecksCalculate net salaries considering deductions and withholdingsEnsure payroll and tax documents are accurateUpdate and reconcile general ledger and payroll filesPrepare accounting files, records, and schedulesMonitor paid and unpaid leavesProcess overtime earnings or holiday deductionsResolve payroll problems (e.g. overlooked bank holidays, late payments, etc.)Answer employee questions concerning payrollParticipate in payroll auditsEnsure compliance with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxesRequirements for this role are: Current experience as a payroll accountant or in a similar role.Minimum for 5 years current experienceUnderstanding local and governmental payroll regulations lExcellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel functionsGreat computational abilityAttention to detailA valid national certification (e.g. Fundamental Payroll Certification)Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant fieldJob Type: Full-timePay: $60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per yearPhysical Setting:OfficeSchedule:Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate:Wharton, NJ: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)Education:High school or equivalent (Preferred)Experience:Payroll Accounting: 5 years (Preferred)Payroll Occupations: 1 year (Preferred)Work Location: One location
