From creation to commercialization, our customized approach to each customer’s requirements is what sets us apart from the rest.SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Plant Accountant assists the Regional Controller in all aspects of plant accounting, including cost accounting, forecasting and budgeting.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific responsibilities and accountabilities for the position include:GeneralAbility to measure and record business transactions including: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory and Fixed Assets.Assists in the preparation of financial reporting including: plant income statements and select balance sheet accounts in accordance with GAAP.Supports capital spending and capital tracking requirements.Measures and reports financial and non-financial information that helps management make decisions to fulfill organizational goals.Updates and supports standard cost systems.Other tasks and projects as assigned in support of the organization’s financial team.Internal Control & ComplianceFacilitate internal control and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance audit activity at the plant level.Ability to drive profitability enhancements in manufacturing.AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable): SKILLS and QUALITIESProficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Oracle experience preferred.Excellent organization and analytical capabilities.Proactive and collaborative style with the plant team.Team-Oriented: Ability to use diplomacy and social skills to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships within and across functions.Effective Communicator: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both written and verbal.Adaptable: Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business conditions.Quality-Oriented: Ability to deliver consistent quality work with minimal oversight.Planning: Ability to prioritize effectively to meet goals and deadlines.Leadership: Ability to lead and develop processes and support staff.EXPERIENCERequired: 3-5 years related accounting experience.Strong background with enterprise business software applications.Preferred: 3-5 years accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.Preferred: Master’s in Business Administration.LIMITATIONS & DISCLAIMER: The above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.Silgan will provide reasonable accommodation for qualified applicants and employees with disabilities unless doing so would cause undue hardship.This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the associate occupying this position.
