Job Description : We are the Velocity Companies. Not your traditional construction development firm. At Velocity, we are doing some pretty exciting things and invite you to come join us.Our organization comprises an investment division, which deploys capital for real estate projects, joint ventures, and commercial real estate development. Besides tenant relations, we have a full-service real estate brokerage division which specializes in investing and selling multifamily, office, and retail properties.Since the beginning of the year, we’ve expanded further to add a food and beverage hospitality and events group while taking a giant leap by acquiring a sports & entertainment group that owns and manages a professional baseball team. Seriously.Accountant Primary Responsibilities: As an accountant at the Velocity Companies, you support all financial aspects of our construction and development projects. This includes AR, AP, treasury/cash management, risk management, and management of project costs.Accounting duties, including posting journal entries, account reconciliations, etc.Execute the full-cycle month-end close processPrepare GAAP financial reports and draw packages for construction loansAssist with budget forecastingCash managementAccounts Payable duties, including the analysis and coding of invoices and payments made in the general ledgerSubmission of new vendor setups to the corporate, vendor, and contractor departmentsProvide assistance to the management team in preparing the budgets for all development projectsInterpreting and abstracting operation agreements and loan documentsManaging joint venture overhead cost allocation and reimbursement processesAssist with special projects relating to construction projects with ad hoc reportsAccurately reconcile intercompany and project transactions with affiliatesIdentify budget deviations in a timely manner by working with the project management teamAnalysis of project budgets to determine funding availability for construction contractsAssist with preparation of transaction-specific tenant reporting packages per lease termsContribute toward the development of accounting processes and policiesBring this with you: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting7+ years prior real estate/construction accounting experienceExperience in Budgeting, Contracts, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), Project Cost Accounting, and Month-End ProceduresExperience with property management and accounting software (a plus)Excellent communication skillsFlexible, willing, team player attitudeDetail-orientedAbility to prioritize and multi-taskHighly proficient in MS office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookWhat we’re offering: In addition to an award-winning culture, stable employment, and an opportunity to participate in helping our organizations grow.
