Crown Roofing serves Central, South and Southwest Florida, specializing in new construction, re-roof, maintenance and all your roof service needs.
Job Description: Project Accountant
Reports To: Operations
Classification: Non-Exempt
General Description:
Project Accountants fulfil a vital role in ensuring commercial construction projects are built properly, run efficiently, and billed accurately. The Project Accountant will work closely with the project manager to procure materials, maintain schedules, and monitor budgets. The project accountant will be responsible for preparing cost analyses, performing analysis on account activity and preparing commentary as needed, assisting with audits and supporting inquiries from operations personnel. The role will closely interface with the other Finance functions as well as functions across the organization.
Duties:
Obtains a copies of project contracts and familiarizes him/herself with requirements and specifications
Attends handoff and project meetings
Sets up projects in the job costing/financial system and scheduling system to align with contract scope
Reviews project budgets and enters details into the job costing/financial system
Creates purchase orders from project budgets
Produces and/or submits permit packages as required
Reviews payroll dispatches and compares to labor budgets to identify variances
Manages Change Orders form initial RFC submission to customer approval and updates the job costing/financial system accordingly
Frequently reviews scheduling software to ensure resources are secured prior to task start dates
Obtains required documentation for subcontractor prequalification and forwards to accounting
Obtains quotes from vendors and subcontractors
Prepares customer pay applications with detailed supporting documents
Research and correct billing discrepancies as needed
Communicates with clients on outstanding billings to promote positive cash flow
Continually reviews costs incurred and committed to budgets and communicates variance to the project team and company management
Calculates percentage of completion and updated job costing/financial system
Updates project schedule based on communication form customers and project managers
Registers for manufactures warranties and schedules inspections
Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred but not required
Proficiency in accounting software
Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word
Strong problem solving skills, accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis, and multi-tasking skills
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
