The project accountant position is responsible for project billing in accordance with accounting standards and billing policy. This position requires the ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Effectively communicate with management regarding contract modifications and discrepancies related to billing
Write-off project related billings as required.
Prepare customer invoice packages for submittal to the government customer.
Review vendor invoices, employee expense reports and credit card expenses for complete supporting documentation and approvals
Provide accounts payable team members with guidance on maximizing client billing
Maintain project billing related records with appropriate documents, including expenses, vendor invoices and client invoices
Research unbilled issues to optimize billing possibilities and report to management
Recommend and implement agreed upon billing process improvements
Perform additional assignments as directed by management
Review Time and Attendance records and verify Payroll reporting.
Assist with Financial Planning & Analysis deliverables and reporting to client.
Assist with all accounting processes required to close monthly books including various accruals and journal entries.
Complete monthly credit card reconciliations
Education/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
4-6 years of experience in project accounting desired with 2-3 years of billing experience.
Prior experience with accounting software desired (Netsuite/Unanet preferred)
Advanced Microsoft Excel experience with the ability to run pivot tables, generate formulas, and validating data entry
Exposure to financial statements, journal entries, payroll, etc. are all preferred
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands to operate a computer and reach for telephones, keyboards, and/or other office equipment as needed
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
Ability to sit at a desktop workstation for an extended period
Ability to work in a confined area
Candidate must be vaccinated for COVID-19
