We’re looking for a detailed and customer-focused Senior Accountant to join our team.This role is primarily remote, but will require one day per week in our Chicago office.In this role, you’ll be responsible for: Our full monthly accounting cycleDaily processes including monthly revenue recognition, month-end accruals and journal entriesAR, APYou will be the go-to person for all types of financial data and accounting details and play an important part in providing this critical data and analysis to department heads and our private equity sponsor.You will receive guidance and development from our Controller, who this position reports to, and exposure and opportunities to work with our CFO.If you’re someone who is motivated, detail-oriented and a team player who also loves having the autonomy to execute responsibilities, we’d love to meet you.How You’ll Contribute at BuildoutYou will ensure P&L and Balance Sheet are in compliance with GAAP and internal policiesYou will play a critical role in transitioning all accounting related activities from our third-party accounting firm to in-houseYou will manage the process to get new customers efficiently and accurately set up with invoices in NetsuiteYou will collect checks and ACH payments, match them with invoices, and proactively follow up with overdue customersYou will oversee the revenue recognition process for all new deals and existing businessYou will follow up with and manage our incoming customer billing ticketsIn partnership with our Controller, you will support the process of implementing a new ERP (NetSuite) and aid in financial audit requestsYou will develop great relationships with our customers and contribute to the value we deliver themYou will implement new ideas to further streamline our process and ensure a Buildout Quality experienceOf course what is outlined above is your ideal day-to-day, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.What You’ll Bring to Buildout 3+ years of related experienceTechnology/SaaS experienceKnowledge and understanding of AR end-to-end processes including invoicing customers, collections, and cash applicationsKnowledge and understanding of AP end-to-end processes including invoice approval, recording payment, and reconciliationWorking knowledge of GAAPExcellent knowledge of various Microsoft applications like ExcelThe ability to learn quickly and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic and fast-paced environmentTeam player who collaborates well with internal team members and external vendorsYou bring a growth mindset: you’re highly motivated, solutions-focused, and comfortable working with ambiguityThe ability to work out of our Chicago office at least once per week to collect and deposit checksNice to haves:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relatedExperience with NetSuite and SalesforcePerks & Benefits We built a benefits program to match the quality of our team.
