Job Description : The Senior Accountant is responsible for the timely processing and accurate production of hourly and salaried payroll. This position maintains a detailed understanding of Erikson’s policies related to compensation while providing high quality and timely customer service to employees.This position will be responsible for managing and processing all accounts payable for the organization including vendor invoices, student loan disburements, corporate credit card program and employee expense reports. A strong focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to advance Erikson’s mission of serving young children and their families, is essential for success in the role.Roles and ResponsibilitiesPayrollPrepare and manage the processing of payroll covering 200+ employees in accordance with Erikson’s policies and state and federal requirements.Perform all pay period payroll functions related to time and attendance and ensure employees and supervisors are using the system according to the established policies and procedures.Troubleshoot payroll issues; verifying the accuracy of pay data, etc.Provide exceptional and timely day-to-day payroll related customer service to employees.Prepare and record payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts.Prepare payroll analysis reports for management reporting and planning purposes.Assist with special projects, including managing system upgrades and new product implementations.Accounts PayableProcess all payables for the Institute including vendor invoices, student loan disbursements, corporate credit card program and employee expense reports.Reconcile, adjust and maintain balance sheet accounts such as prepaid expenses, accrued expenses and fixed assets.Responsible for design and implementation of business process improvement initiatives.Provides back-up for other functions in the Finance Department.Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree required, focus on accounting and business preferred.3+ years experience in payroll and accounts payable. Experience with higher educational or non-profit organization desirable.3+ years of hands-on full cycle payroll processing.Experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus.CPP Certification a plus.The ability to multi-task, provide effective follow-up with internal staff and external organizations, and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail.Must be a discreet, diplomatic individual who possesses the ability to work well with internal staff and outside vendors.A high level of proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, is required, with database knowledge and experience using Blackbaud’s Financial Edge a plus.Experience implementing financial systems and strong knowledge of software business application integration and data management tools.Erikson is open to individual candidates from all backgrounds and experiences.
