Job Description : Job OverviewThe Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting functions related to retail real estate properties. Accurately prepares regular revenue audits and financial analysis to supplement overall financial reports. This individual is a senior level accountant, with day-to-day responsibilities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEffectively analyzes financial data from operations and prepares memos stating variances and their causes.Audits records to assure accuracy; makes recommendations for improving processes and methods.Duties will include processing of monthly closing journal entries, preparation of B/S account reconciliations on a monthly basis, reporting accounting information on a monthly basis and preparing monthly accounts receivable statements.Act as lead resource during annual audit season, assist with testing and selections.Facilitate the annual budgeting process, coordinate with management and Finance.Oversee and populate B/S subledgers such as prepaid expenses, deferred revenues and liability accountsInput the financial terms of new leases into the system and have a clear understanding of what those obligations are.Participates in the full close process, revenue recognition, accruals, and audit projects.Prepare period end journal entries and posts to G/L in a timely fashion.Perform G/L account analysis after period end, analysis of specific B/S accounts.Run a monthly trial balance and review accounts on a timely basis.Oversee and track capex expenditures ensuring compliance and spend is within budget constraints.Maintains cash control journal; apply deposits to appropriate accounts & confirm reception of documents needed.Maintains related schedules (property insurance, taxes, compliance, etc.).Develops reports that are based on analysis requested by management.Assists the Accounting department with other needs as they come upCollaborates with accounting professionals, retail real estate agents, retail business managers/owners, and property management.Complete other Ad-hoc reports and duties that may be deemed necessary.All duties must be performed in compliance with GAAP and company policies.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; 5+ years of accounting experience required.Retail real estate experience strongly preferred.Experience with Great Plains and Yardi is preferred.Prior experience in auditing, financial analysis, budget preparation required.Ability to organize/prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously essential.Must possess an outstanding working knowledge of all MS Office products, especially Excel.Must have excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.Must be willing to work on site; this is not a remote work position.Physical Demands and Work Environment· The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to the risks associated in attempting to resolve issues with extremely irate or difficult guests or staff members.
