This position will be fully cross-trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of the Accounting Specialist I and II positions. Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail when posting financial accounting entries and preparing reports. Monitor the general ledger and other operating reports – all within strict daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly deadlines.RequirementsEssential Functions: Manages daily and month-end general ledger entries pertaining to fed funds, borrowings, correspondent bank accounts, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaids, investments, accruals, and other accounting entries as assignedPrepare periodic and closing journal entriesPost daily journal entries to core systemSetup wire transfers for Finance and AccountingResponsible for 1099 reporting and updating vendor information on the core system applicationMonitor the general ledger and other operating reports daily and work with management to help resolve daily accounting issuesPrepare reconciliation of various general ledger accounts and bancontrol accounts on a monthly basis, in a timely and accurate manner and communicate outstanding items for clearing to the appropriate departments within policy guidelinesReviews monthly variances related to the income and expense general ledger accounts and provides explanations within department timelineReview monthly certification package within department timelineReviewing and analyze financial statements and UBPR reportsAssist in the preparation of various regulatory schedules, including but not limited to, Call Report, Annual Financial Statement footnote schedulesPrepare quarterly analysis of SBA loans sold portfolioEnsures compliance with IntraFi/Promontory ICS/CDARS programAssist in the preparation of quarterly Asset Liability Committee and Investment Committee meeting packagesPrepare internal and external reports, including but not limited to, policy losses and suspense accounts for management, corporate disclosure statement, statement of information reportPrepare reports required by internal and external audit requestsMay also assist in various ad-hoc analyses as requested by ManagementPrepares annual brokerage firm review in accordance with investment policyPrepares internal and external reports, including but not limited to: sales & use tax return and business property tax statementsMaintains PC skills, particularly in spreadsheet and word processing applicationsPerforms other duties as assigned within the Finance & Accounting DepartmentSkills and Experience: Associate‘s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance preferred5+ years’ experience in a financial institution greatly desiredMust be highly detail oriented and ability to meet firm deadlinesExcellent analytical, verbal and written communication skillsRequires minimal supervision to perform responsibilities and works well under pressureMust be able to work independently and have the ability to interact with coworkers, management, auditors and regulatorsAbility to use PC, with advanced skills, understanding and working experience in spreadsheet applications (Excel)10-key adding machine experienceProficient in Microsoft Office SuitePhysical Requirements: Extended periods of sittingAbility to objects up to 20lbsUse of personal computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, shredder, postage machineRegular, reliable and punctual attendanceSupervision: NoneThis position will be located in our new Salinas office which is expected to open in the second half of this year.
