The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting Tiger Fuel’s Accounting & Finance team through a variety of functions. This position will be dynamic and support operations from A/R, to fixed asset management, to critical general ledger account reconciliations. This position reports to Tiger’s Controller, is on-site and based at our Charlottesville office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform general ledger account reconciliations including, but not limited to, cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fuel and retail inventories, credit cards payable, and others as needed
Support the Credit Manager with commercial credit determinations and collections efforts, as needed
Reconcile fuel bills of lading with supplier, terminal, and product information
Produce dealer customer invoices that reconcile to fuel manifests and verify accessorial charges are appropriately captured and classified
Compile, organize, and maintain property, plant & equipment records to accurately capture depreciation by division and location
Process supplier credit card payments with dealer credit card collections and reconcile dealer account balances
Analyze financial results and investigate variances identified
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Assist with the annual financial statement audit by compiling supporting documentation and account reconciliations
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Assist management with identifying areas for improvement and operational excellence
Promote the “Tiger Way” and our cycle of success by building high quality relationships with employees, customers, and outside vendors
Perform other duties as required and assigned
. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or Associate’s degree with equivalent experience in accounting functions
At least 2-5 years’ experience in public accounting or private accounting performing similar duties
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required
Excellent customer service experience is required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to customers and management
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel is preferred
Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
Exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others; accepts feedback from others; gives appropriate recognition to others.
