Job Description : Summary:
Under direction, the Senior Accountant is responsible for maintenance, analysis and verification of Paragon’s financial records and preparation of financial and statistical reports. The Senior Accountant may provide guidance and support to lower-level accounting personnel and is assigned tasks moderately complex in nature.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares/inputs journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
Analyzes and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts monthly and maintains appropriate supporting documentation of assigned accounts
Generates and distributes monthly financial and statistical reports to management and facility personnel
Generates ad-hoc reports and assists management with interpretation and analysis of such reports
Assists in the review of financial statements for proper accounting treatment of revenue and expense items
Consults with Company personnel on accounting-related issues
Provides accounting-related training to Company personnel as needed
Prepares audit schedules and other reports for external auditors.
Assists in creating annual business plans
Assists management team with special projects
Minimal travel including overnight stay as necessary
Complies with all laws, regulations, and standards of ethical conduct
Leads by Example (LBE), upholds and promotes the culture, mission and values of the Company.
Performs all job duties with a friendly positive and team-oriented approach.
Maintains professional/technical competencies and proficiencies for job responsibilities.
Complies with all Company policies, procedures, rules, and standards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Accounting principles and practices in accordance with GAAP, ADP and Paycor Payroll
computerized information technologies used in financial and/or accounting applications
Accrual based accounting practices.
Compliance with external regulatory agencies and organizations for all areas of responsibility.
Skills in:
Problem solving sufficient to effectively analyze, research, and resolve inquiries in a timely manner and adhere to deadlines.
Gathering and compiling information and analyzing and adjusting discrepancies.
Preparing, processing and maintaining transaction documentation, files and records.
Interpreting and applying regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.
Ongoing development of a servant leadership culture that strives to achieve the highest ethical standards.
Organization with strong attention to detail.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Identify and recommend solutions to problems.
Manage multiple tasks and deadlines accurately and efficiently.
Ability to review and analyze report information, while using critical thinking skills to evaluate data for regulatory compliance.
Maintain confidentiality and professional discretion.
Organize, prioritize and track multiple tasks with strong attention to efficiency and detail.
Work independently, as well as collaboratively, within a team environment.
