[andela.com/careers] way.We are excited to continue building our remote first team with incredible people like you!About the RoleAndela is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with responsibility for helping manage the accounting functions and programs of our remote NYC HQ, and to coordinate with global remote counterparts in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Egypt. This position will be joining a fun and high-functioning accounting team to support Andela’s growing global accounting organization and will be a key team member with day-to-day US accounting operations responsibilities; as well as partner with team members across Africa on special projects to support accelerated global growth.In this role, the right candidate will have the opportunity to help build a ‘best in class’ international accounting department, focusing on processes and governance and creating a team that is able to influence and impact the success of the greater organisation. This job has leadership accountability with a focus on performance, strong internal controls/compliance ownership, and strong business partnering. Through focus, transparency, and effective process design and optimization, you will be able to deliver reduced complexity and expense to the business.ResponsibilitiesPerform US month-end close activities, including preparation of standard and intercompany journal entries and reconciliations for various balance sheet and income statement accountsOwn the company’s annual external audit, including internal risk assessments, preparing estimates and audit schedules, process walkthroughs, reconciliations, roll forward schedules, waterfalls; as well as, working with external auditors with questions and audit supportEnhance management reporting, financial statements and related disclosures and ensuring that company financial reports are prepared in compliance with policies and directives, IFRS and US GAAP reporting requirementsAssist the VP, Global Controller and the US Senior Accounting Manager with special projects that involve working with the Africa Accounting team; such as system implementations, creating or enhancing global accounting procedures, using new NetSuite features, etcBuild requirements and support the design and implementation of new information systems, and improve existing systems to better streamline reporting, control costs, benchmark performance, create accountability, facilitate process improvement and improve and reduce closing cyclesAssist with US treasury operationsManage and process tax filingsLiaise with the Global Order-to-Cash (OTC) team to track weekly key performance indicators and assist with critical issues of past due to receivables and disputesBasic RequirementsBA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA6+ years of general accounting and/or audit experience from a top tier accounting firmNice to haveExperience with NetSuite, Salesforce, Coupa and Expensify, a plusAn excellent teammate with a sense of integrity, ownership, and dedicationProactive with a strong work ethic including excellent interpersonal and soft skillsExcellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitaskStrong problem solving, analytical, and communication (both verbal and written) skillsFlexible with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentAbility to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectivesDemonstrated ability to improve processes and proceduresBenefitsFully Remote work culture – we hire globally and all of our roles are fully remote!Bring your own device stipend – buy your own laptop with funds from AndelaQuarterly work from home stipendsFlexible working hoursEquity (as a part of compensation package)Healthcare, 401k / pension (US only)Andela Affinity GroupsGrowth & development pathsGenerous Paid Time Off, Parental Leave, Compassionate LeaveAnd more to come!
