With top-line growth that will happen for years to come we are looking for an individual to build out our revenue team! This role will continuously interact with key stakeholders (Deals Desk, Finance, Legal, Sales Operations, Sales, Technical Accounting, etc.) to collaborate on enhancements to accounting and operational processes, new product offerings and non-routine transactions.

In this role you’ll get to:

Build out a newly-formed operational revenue team within HubSpot responsible for developing revenue policies, procedures, guardrails, and playbooks for complex deal structures and revenue recognition as HubSpot continues to close larger enterprise deals.
Work proactively with cross-functional groups to ensure agreements are structured in a way that accomplish sales and business objectives while maintaining compliance with revenue recognition requirements; review and assess customer contracts for revenue recognition implications
Lead global revenue accounting activities including technical revenue recognition assessments, SSP analysis, monthly revenue close, deal desk review, and more.
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders (Deals Desk, Finance, Legal, Sales Operations, Sales, Technical Accounting, etc.) to collaborate on enhancements to accounting and operational processes, new product offerings and non-routine transactions
Review revenue related monthly close activities, such as deferred revenue reconciliations, journal entries, analytics, financial reporting and reporting disclosures for revenue-related areas
Identify risk areas in a high growth environment and implement mitigation strategies, including but not limited to team structure, workflow, cross-functional collaboration and system and process changes
Enhance existing operational processes to provide good service to our business partners while ensuring efficiency and accuracy and our results
Review revenue accounting conclusions and lead communication of those conclusions among internal and external stakeholders including auditors
Work with Technical Accounting to maintain revenue accounting policies and advise on the implementation of new accounting conclusions
Act as team lead in coordination between Revenue Accounting and internal & external audit teams
Participate actively in projects to streamline the revenue recognition process, including ERP or revenue accounting software implementation, if applicable
Drive career development for the revenue accounting team, providing the leadership and structure for the team to excel as the company grows
Participate in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects

We are looking for people who have:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA strongly preferred
8+ years of professional experience in accounting, ideally a combination of public accounting firm and revenue accounting in the Technology industry
Expert level understanding of revenue accounting under ASC 606
Strong organizational skills with experience managing team members to achieve results and the ability to train and develop employees
Experience building out a revenue team from scratch and/or significantly scaling a pre-existing revenue team
Strong judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects and processes simultaneously
Willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done
