Our Team

We are looking for passionate Engineers/Architects to build our next generation forecasting Platform for Walmart. Forecasts drive $200 B + inventory replenishments annually. Improved forecast will help drive down the inventory days of supply and reduce waste for perishable grocery – savings measured in billions of dollars – while improving our in stocks. Effectively predicting demand involves learning from past sales and modelling the effects price, promotions, store placements, local events, weather etc. Doing this a Walmart scale – over 500 M store item combinations – makes it one of the largest and most challenging problems of its kind in the world while also being the most impactful. Your Opportunity

As part of the Forecasting team @Walmart Labs, you’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the smartest engineers/architects/data scientist and will have the opportunity to solve one of the most critical problems for Walmart.

Your Responsibility
Write efficient and quality code that can work @ Walmart scale
Adopt Walmart’s quality standards and develop and recommend process standards and best practices across the retail industry
Research, learn & adapt new technologies to solve problems & improve existing solutions
Contribute to engineering excellence backlog.
Identify performance issues.
Effective code and design reviews.
Improve reliability of overall production system by proactively identifying patterns of failure.
Leading and mentoring junior engineers by example.
End-to-end ownership of stories (including design, serviceability, performance, failure handling)
Strive hard to provide the best experience to anyone using our products.
Conceptualise innovative and elegant solutions to solve challenging big data problems.
Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.
Be responsible for on-call support on a need basis.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Qualification
B.E/B.Tech from a reputed institution.
Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
Expert coding skills in Java.
Deep understanding in Big Data Ecosystem – Hadoop, Spark and NoSql
Must have project experience with Spark.
Ability to independently troubleshoot Spark jobs.
Good understanding of distributed systems.
Good understanding of orchestration framework like Airflow or Oozie
Good understanding of cloud native application architectures. Knowledge of Azure will be a plus.
Fast learner and quickly adapt to new technologies.
Prefer individuals with high ownership and commitment.
Good understanding of NoSQL is a plus.
Fast learner and quickly adapt to new technologies.
Ability to work independently as well as working collaboratively in a team
