The Senior Tax Specialist will be responsible for timely completion of federal and state income tax returns and tax provisions for assigned companies in the US Supply Chain business segments. Support state income tax audits; provide project support, including in mergers and acquisitions and tax planning; and interface with business segment management. Position reports to the Senior Tax Manager.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring timely completion of federal income tax return proformas, state income/franchise returns
Prepare the ASC 740 quarterly and annual calculations of assigned entities, including opening balance sheets when applicable.
Work with ASC 740 team in understanding and reconciling consolidated tax return to provision variances and deferred tax proofs for assigned entities
Prepare and maintain the net operating losses of acquired companies
Provide state tax audit support for assigned entities
Conduct research and recommend solutions to resolve issues according to applicable tax laws and regulations.
Assist with the development and execution of tax strategies
Assist with due diligence for potential acquisitions
Identify and implement process improvements, including working with department personnel on the automation / streamlining of the compliance and tax provision processes
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related discipline
Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred
Four years or more relevant experience in large multinational corporate tax environment and/or top tier accounting firm preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present issues and recommendations in a precise manner
Ability to:
Be flexible and adapt to change
Interact effectively with executives, management, and functional peer groups
Perform analysis, prioritize and problem solve
Strong organizational skills
Strong technical expertise, objectivity, and unquestioned integrity
knowledge and experience with domestic federal and state income tax compliance and ASC 740
Knowledge of OneSource tax compliance and provision software
Certified Public Accountant preferred
