Position :

Job Description : Senior Cost Accountant will be primarily responsible for inventory valuation and variance reporting, capital expenditure tracking and reporting, fixed asset tracking and reporting, quarterly budgeting process and monthly actual vs. budget reporting. The position will be responsible for direct accounting and analysis support for operations, specifically for the spinal implant business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties as tasks as needed and assigned.
Inventory Reporting
Monthly inventory fluctuation analyses (actuals, and actuals vs. budget)
Detailed monthly scrap analysis for management review
Prepare or review month end account reconciliations for inventory
Proposal of correcting entries, as needed
Assist with inventory forecasting/budgeting
SKU Data Maintenance
Provide guidance and support for new SKUs to validate proper costing and other SKU attributes
Support Product Development team on impact of new processes, BOM creations, etc.
Regular review of SKU attributes for accuracy and proposal of correcting actions as needed
Excess and Obsolete Analysis
Preparation and completion of international E&O analysis, provide commentary on drivers and changes in balances
Loose Instrument Analysis
Preparation and completion of loose instruments analysis, provide commentary on drivers and changes in balances
Fixed Assets, CIP and Instrument analysis
Monthly fixed asset, CIP and instrument roll forward to analysis movements for management reporting
Monthly analyze instrument replacement expense
Monthly analysis of instrument purchases vs. budget
Freight Reporting
Monthly reporting on actual vs. budget.
Identification of deviations in shipping standard processes
Departmental Spend
Provide FP&A support to operations department owners
Understand the assigned departments individual budget and review monthly activity to propose necessary adjustments (i.e. reclasses & accruals)
Assist department owners with the budget and forecast preparation process
Track and report actual to budget for capital expenditure activity on a monthly basis
Identify and communicate deviations from budget in a timely manner
New product launch support
Provide guidance and support for new SKUs creation to marketing and engineering team
Support Product Development team on impact of new processes, BOM creation review, etc.
Ad hoc analyses as needed
Communicate with cross functional teams including IT, A/R, A/P, FP&A, Sales & Marketing.
Other tasks and projects as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
5-8 years of corporate and/or public accounting experience to include cost and inventory accounting.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills a must
Detail oriented with the ability to investigate and resolve problems
Ability to analyze and reconcile financial data
Knowledge of personal computer databases and spreadsheets
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with various levels of management.
Effective organizational skills
Ability to work well as part of a high performing team, as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications stated above.
Education/Certifications:
CPA
Additional Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
Experience with ORACLE ERP system a plus
