Cabot Corporation is seeking a Senior Tax Director to join the Finance organization at the Boston, MA headquarters location. This role leads a team of tax professionals who are responsible for tax reporting, compliance, internal controls, and controversy activities and serves as a key member of the Corporate Tax Senior Leadership team.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced individual as this role has a high degree of visibility interacting with C-Suite and Board members, as well as someone with a transformational mindset who can define, scope, and drive change in an organization.
The position requires an individual with broad technical tax expertise as well as strong leadership skills. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Tax.
This role has the option to follow the current Flexible Working Arrangement, as appropriate. Relocation assistance provided, as appropriate.
Job Responsibilities:
Oversees global tax activities, including SEC reporting, US GAAP compliance, internal controls, and preparation and filing of US tax returns (co-sourced with outside advisors). Provides advice to Cabot top management regarding tax strategy and planning.
Helps develop and implement tax strategies for Cabot that meet Tax Department and business needs.
Monitors US and non-US tax developments to ensure compliance and operating efficiency related to rule changes, including OECD and other global tax initiatives.
Develops and maintains close working relationships with external tax advisors and strengthens relationships with other individuals and groups within the company to ensure the Tax Department is effectively serving its business partners.
Oversees design and implementation of tax information systems. Ensures utilization of effective technology and applications to facilitate analysis.
Has transformational/visionary mindset; assesses business needs and priorities to ensure team has correct mix of skills, bandwidth, and the technology to provide effective service to business.
Skilled people leader who is effective at organization design, talent selection and development.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA
15+ years of prior experience (inclusive of tax provision and compliance focus).
International experience.
Prior experience presenting and communicating with the C-Suite, Board members, and external auditors.
Demonstrated transformational mindset to successfully lead and continuously improve the tax compliance and reporting function at a publicly traded, US headquartered multinational company.
Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
Expert knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and practices; tax preparation and analysis techniques.
In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX rules and regulations, and US tax rules. Familiarity with transfer pricing rules, local tax codes and requirements in non-US countries where Cabot operates.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in order to make presentations to senior management and external auditors.
Ability to positively and comfortably handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with focused attention to detail.
Strong organizational and project management skills and managerial qualities which enable effective delegation and supervision.
