Job Description : POSITION TITLE: Staff Accountant 1REPORTS TO: Director of FinanceJOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Full-TimeCOMPENSATION: Pay: $24.00 per hourCREATED: 03/2022JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent is responsible for general accounting functions including, but not limited to, journal entries, fixed asset reporting and account analysis. In addition, will assist with the billing and reporting requirements for all assigned Martha’s Village and Kitchen, Inc. grants, both foundation sponsored and government sponsored. The position also works to ensure timely audit reporting, revenue tracking of invoices, proper job coding against budgets, and to resolve funding issues/inquiries.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: ·Assist with month end close process.·Post journal entries into QuickBooks.·Maintain fixed asset listing and post depreciation expense monthly.·Maintain account analysis of balance sheet accounts including Prepaid Insurance and Workers Comp premium calculation.·Other accounting duties as assigned.·Read, review and understand all contract, agreements and amendments for all grants applied for and received.· Conduct focused reviews of all assigned grant billing in conjunction with Program Manager(s).· Ensure all revenue billing is tracked in QuickBooks and matched to contract totals to ensure no over or under billing per the parameters of the grant.· Ensure all expenses allocated are in compliance with the parameters of the grant.· Ensure all qualified unallocated expenses are properly assigned to the grant.· Develop and maintain professional intercompany relationships with the grant provides and funders. Understand and know each representatives specific requirements in the grant billing process and ensure Martha’s is in compliance with each.· Work directly with the director of finance in analyzing each grants financial position monthly in comparison to budget and expectations.· Communication short falls or overages to the Finance and Programs teams so corrective measures can be implements before billing time runs out.· Ensure all back up documentation is organized and easily understood when billing, copies should be kept of all billings, reports and communication.· Maintain accurate and complete records both in hard copy filing and electronic documentation.· Always put for front the clients of Martha’s Village and Kitchen and the mission we are here to complete.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience.· Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy for reconciliation of accounts.· Problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Prior experience at a Non-Profit with Grant funding background· Detailed working knowledge of QuickBooks.· Proficiency in data analysis reporting.· Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.COMPETENCIES: · Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and nonprofit accounting standard pronouncements.· Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Clients, Funders, Vendors and Employees at all levels throughout the organization.· Outstanding customer service skills with ability to maintain excellent customer service to various organizations.· Attention to detail and sound judgement.BENEFITS: after 90 days of employment · Dental Insurance· Health Insurance· Life Insurance· Vision Insurance· Paid time off including vacation and sickWork Schedule: Work schedule is 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.Martha’s Village & Kitchen (“MVK”) requires all applicants and/or employees to show proof of full vaccination.
