The Accounting and Finance Department at Central Maine Healthcare is Hiring! We are a team of professionals that leverages technology and seeks continuous process improvements to achieve organizational objectives.
Excellent entry level opportunity! The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the daily accounting functions and the month end closing process. This position reports to the Manager of Accounting but with supervision, direction and mentorship from the Senior Accountant.
Responsibilities:
Preparation of journal entries; account reconciliations – balance sheet and profit and loss; accounting schedules and analyses
Assists and reviews schedules of additions, deletions, construction in progress accounts, renovations, and other capitalized transactions. Assures accuracy of assigned depreciable lives in accordance with current AHA “Estimated Useful Lives of Depreciable Hospital Assets” publication.
Works with the accounting team to ensure all month end close processes are conducted timely and accurately
Assists in the review of financials prior to release and distribution; participates in research of any variances in financial data.
Other ad hoc projects as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred (recent grads will be considered) or Associate’s Degree in Accounting or business related field coupled with 4+ years of experience required
Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills a must
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.); Lawson GL and Axiom a plus
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to effectively communicate in English; both verbally and in writing
Strong interpersonal skill; ability to collaborate with others
Experience working for a healthcare or other large organization a plus
