Excellent opportunity to join a quick growing, fast-paced DSO centralized in New Hyde Park, NY. This opportunity will enable you to develop a strong base skillset in monthly and annual reporting and provide you with career valued experiences through supporting roles in systems implementation, account analytics, M&A, and more.
Reporting primarily to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions. This is a dynamic hands-on role with a key focus on monthly closing processes, financial reporting and ensuring the company’s accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support daily accounting functions including banking, payroll, and accounts payable/credit cardsPrepare journal entries including month-end closing journal entries and analyses for assigned accounts / Month-end closing will include bank reconciliation, prepaids, inventory, fixed assets, accruals, and other key accounts as necessaryConduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenanceWork effectively as a team player, assisting and supporting cross functional departments including Accounts Payable, Payroll and OperationsTake ownership of interim projects such as system implementations, process efficiency initiatives, building and analyzing datasets for use in business decisions, etc.Contribute to and uphold the implementation of best practices to simplify, standardize and scale our accounting processes. Communicate the same with internal contacts outside of finance/accountingAssist in the enhancement of documentation of accounting process and internal controlsAssist in monthly, YTD, and annual analytics / variance analysis to actual and budgetAssist with financial audits and tax reporting needs
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in AccountingSolid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Ability to work efficiently with Excel schedules and ambition to continue to learn new skillsAbility to succeed in a fast paced and constantly changing environment while managing deadlinesAbility to work independently and self-build efficiencies into day to day activitiesAttention to detail with the ability to see the big pictureHighly developed written and verbal communication skillsStrong problem solving and analytical skills
