Job Description : Key Focus:
The staff accountant role will have a variety of responsibilities across A/R, A/P, General Ledger, Payroll, Inventory and Bank Reconciliation. This position will have either a primary or a backup role in two or more subledgers, as described below. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and is exposed to highly confidential/sensitive information. A demonstrated ability to work well in a team and collaboratively across departments is key. Ability to analyze and understand accounting systems and transactions to answer questions and solve problems concerning discrepancies and variances is required.
This position reports to the Controller, participates on the Accounting/Finance Department team and will work in partnership with his or her team and all company departments to achieve the goals of the Accounting/Finance Department plan that are in line with the Companys Strategic Plan.
Primary Responsibilities:

Bank reconciliation
Maintain daily account reconciliations and tracking of cleared items
Perform research to resolve any discrepancies in the reconciliation
Perform end of month reconciliation on all bank accounts
Record foreign currency transactions
Track daily ESCO sweeps (in/out) and post to bank account
Fixed Assets
Update and enforce capitalization policy, educate other departments, ensure consistency with NRG policy
Enter fixed assets and intangibles into GP after reviewing that transaction qualifies for capitalization
Maintain consistency of useful lives by category as well as depreciation terms
Reconcile to GL monthly
Reconcile rental units held in FA to inventory subledger (location ID) and rental income worksheets
Prepare roll forwards and other reports as requested
Ensure Assets in Progress meets capitalization policy and monitor for completeness.
General Ledger
Prepare Journal Entries as needed
Responsible for maintaining and reconciling accounts as assigned
Back up Assistant Controller and other staff accountants as assigned
Process Outgoing Wire and ACH payments
Submit positive pay file to bank each check run
Payroll
Ensure accurately recorded time for each payroll, including appropriate GL accounts
Ensure changes to payroll are accurately reflected
Process payroll in accordance to established procedures
Prepare and post all journal entries related to payroll and benefits
Communicate with third party payroll vendor on payroll issues
Run reports and assist on special projects as necessary
Maintain General Ledger in Payroll system
Maintain teams in Paydata
Maintain GL codes in Paydata
Reconcile quarterly tax records to the General Ledger
Assist with Workers Comp audit as necessary
Ensure proper charge codes are available by employee and by department
Calculate and record salary and vacation accrual monthly
Back-up Accounts Payable
Back up Accounts Payable when necessary (includes data entry of invoices, matching to purchase orders and processing check runs)
Regularly review Inventory Receipts Payable ledger and resolve long outstanding receipts.
Process monthly credit cards transactions
Other Accounts Payable duties as deemed necessary
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree (or 3 years related experience)
Minimum of 3-5 years of equivalent experience in the accounting field
High proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting software (preferably Great Plains) with ability to create moderately complex documents
Experience in a manufacturing setting a plus
Excellent teamwork, ability to interact well with coworkers and department managers
Ability to communicate effectively with an international customer base
Attention to detail, with proficiency and interest in problem solving in complex situations
Skilled at problem solving
Demonstrated initiative, ability to work independently
Experience with identifying continuous improvement opportunities
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Covid-19 Vaccination required
Work performed in a climate controlled office environment.
Primarily duties performed in a seated position.
