Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8: 00am – 5: 00pm

Pay: $28.00

WHO THEY ARE: A local non-profit & public foundation with a mission of inspiring the spirit of giving & connecting people, organizations, & causes to strengthen Alaska’ s communities now & forever is in search of an experienced Staff Accountant who can & will perform accounting & financial management functions according to standard operating procedures. These tasks include processing accounts payable invoices, posting grant checks, posting cash receipts, creating donor records, posting gift records, filing, completing related documentation, & reporting functions. This position also includes special projects related to the ongoing strategy of the financial department as required. This is a full-time main office position & is not approved for hybrid or remote work.

WHAT YOU’ LL DO:
You provide financial support services, administrative support to the Finance team and other Foundation staff, and client services.
Process approved payables invoices and grants for payment, including verifying the accuracy of the documentation and balances.
Establish and maintain vendor and payables files.
Input or review gift records, profiles, and associated materials and post into the accounting system.
Prepare accounts receivable invoices as needed, record in accounting system.
Perform basic reconciliations.
Responds to donor, vendor, and staff requests for account information.
Enter and maintain database records and coding.
Provide reports for donors and other staff, as needed.
Process and file 1099’ s annually.
Respond to client inquiries as directed.
Process gifts, maintain contact information, and create entries using the Foundation’ s database software.
Maintain donor confidentiality.
Reconcile gift records.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:
Knowledge of basic accounting principles & accounting software is required.
Basic computer & intermediate Microsoft office skills are also required, as well as an aptitude & interest in developing these skills further.
Experience in non-profit accounting and fund accounting.
Experience with complex database systems.
Must be flexible, organized, able to manage a fast pace, possess effective communication skills, and can work well with the Foundation team.
Associate degree in accounting or related field, OR three (3) years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience with accounting software.
Strong computer skills, including direct experience with a customer management system and Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
Ability to adhere to processes and procedures around database entry maintenance and coding.
