PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Simon’s Management Company Financial Reporting department is seeking to identify a Senior Accountant to assist with the monthly recording of operating results and the preparation of SPG Retail financial statements.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Maintaining the general ledger for various SPG Starbucks franchise locations.
Preparing monthly journal entries and completing necessary accruals during month end close process.
Preparing month-end and year-end financial statements.
Providing detailed variance analysis and written explanations between actual and budgeted results for key income statement accounts as well as current year vs. prior year actual results.
Assisting Director of Franchise Operations with the development of annual budgets as well as forecasting for the calendar year being reported.
Reconciling general ledger account balances to the detail subledgers and/or support workpapers.
Producing ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support the business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree in accounting.
3-5 years of accounting experience.
Seeking to work towards/achieved CPA designation and experience in the retail industry is a plus.
Strong analytical ability and good written communication skills.
Attention to detail, good organization skills, and the ability to work under deadline pressures are required.
Familiarity with JDEdwards Accounting system and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite a plus.
Some overtime will be required, principally during our budgeting process and at our month end and calendar year end close.
